Week 13: Anna Regina (Part 2)
The Bishop of London looks uncomfortable at Anne’s coronation alongside Stephen Gardiner. Later, Cranmer regretfully hands John Frith back to Stokeley for sentencing.
Week 45: Corpus Christi (Part 2/2) / Inheritance
Stokesley glares at Cromwell as he takes his seat at the trial of John Lambert. When Lambert denies Corpus Christi, he says: ‘May as well set fire to him now. Why drag it out?’
Stokesley notes Cromwell’s silence during the proceedings.
When Cromwell is instructed to read the death sentence:
'Give it good and loud,' Stokesley says. 'Let us hear you at last, my lord Cromwell. Leave the wretch in no doubt as to his fate.'
Week 47: Ascension Day (Part 2/2)
Cromwell notes that Stokesley looks ill. ‘… though since he is an old crony of More’s, he should have felt invigorated by those six pernicious articles in the bill.’
Week 48: Twelfth Night
In 1539, Stokesley dies and is replaced as Bishop of London by Edmund Bonner.
