Ferdinand Karl Friedrich Freiherr von Wintzingerode (1770 – 1818) was a German nobleman and officer in several different armies of the Napoleonic Wars, finally ending up as a general in the Imperial Russian Army and fighting in the War of the Sixth Coalition against the French invasion of Russia and the subsequent campaigns in Germany and France.
Wintzingerode first appears in Book 1 Part 2, Chapter 14, an Ajutant-General attached to Bagration and his four thousand-strong vanguard holding Napoleon’s army off on the Vienna-Znaim road.
