At Cromwell’s imaginary table: ‘Montague and his sainted mother. Courtenay and his blasted wife.’
Week 32: Salvage (Part 2/3)
Cromwell meets Henry Pole at L’Erber with his mother, Margaret. He tells Cromwell, ‘I am not my brother’s keeper,’ and does not defend the Courtenays in the West Country. ‘No loyalty among thieves,’ Cromwell thinks.
Week 45: Corpus Christi (Part 2/2) / Inheritance
Henry Pole is arrested in November 1538 and interrogated. He denies everything. In December he is executed alongside Henry Courtenay.
