The story so far…
Week 9: Arrange Your Face (Part 2)
Wyatt visits Cromwell at Austin Friars, where he recommends Cromwell ask for his old job as Master of the Jewels. “From that post, when I had it, I found I had an overview of the revenue.”
Wyatt tells the household his old stories. About being locked in the Tower by King Richard and the cat that brought him a pigeon. The children love this story, but the adults can fill in the blanks and look at the walls. Or their shoes. He tells them the story of the lion that almost ate him and how his son, Thomas, saved him.
‘Thomas, I have something to ask you … Will you keep an eye on my son? Be a father to him?’
Week 35: Wreckage (II) (Part 2/2)
Henry is ailing. ‘Thomas, I doubt I shall see another winter.’
Week 36: Augmentation
He visits Henry Wyatt, probably for the last time. He hopes that his son has learned to live quiet. ‘To be master of Allington in my stead, and all its pleasant ways and walks. My chases and woods. My flowery meads.’
‘He’ll gamble the shirt off his back, unless you nail it to him. He’ll sell the place off, or lose it as some gaming house. And be borrowing from you, Thomas Cromwell, before my corpse is cold.’
