Week 18: Falcons
The king stays at John Seymour's house at Wolf Hall. At supper, he boasts that his daughters are great hunters, and he never troubled them with the schoolroom. They are bred for the English court. After supper, he tells the story of Edgar the Peaceable, who killed his subject and tried to keep a fair maiden for himself.
Week 20: Crows (Part 2)
John doesn’t get what the king sees in his daughter Jane. ‘Now if it were my daughter Bess.’ Edward Seymour calls his father an ‘old lecher.’
‘The king pretends to forget your crimes, but no one really forgets. You are pointed at: the old goat who stole his son’s bride.’
Week 27: The Book of Phantoms (Part 3/5)
‘Worth Sir John, the old goat,’ convenes with the Seymour family at Carew’s house in Surrey as Jane prepares to become queen.
