The story so far…
Week 15: Supremacy
Cromwell goes to Hatfield to see Princess Elizabeth and Lady Mary:
…coming downstairs at a rapid, creaking scuttle is Lady Bryan, mother of one-eyed Francis, who is in charge of the tiny princess. She is a woman of nearly seventy, well bedded into grand-maternity, and he can see her mouth moving before she is within range of his hearing.
Week 33: Salvage (Part 3/3)
Lady Bryan shows Cromwell and the dukes the Princess Elizabeth, now Lady Bastard Eliza. She complains about the state of her wardrobe. And then she whispers to Cromwell to tell him that she and her daughter, Lady Carew, have spoken to Mary. ‘We did what you asked.’ Telling Mary that the old families will not save her now.
