Christmas, 1535. Katherine’s lady-in-waiting comes to Cromwell for permission to go to Kimbolton. He makes sure the conversation is in English and lets her use her charms to persuade him. His ruse is that she falls near the walls of the castle, and Bedingfield will feel compelled to help her.
