Pierre Philippeaux
A deputy: writes a pamphlet against the government during the Terror
Pierre Philippeaux is a lawyer and the deputy to the National Convention for Sarthe. Philippeaux has been on mission to the Vendée, where the repression of counter-revolutionary insurrection has been brutal and bloody. On his return, he denounces the conduct of the commanders in the Vendée, who are Hébert’s allies, and denounces the Committee of Public Safety as ultimately responsible for the war.
