Part Two

Chapter 1

Timokhin is the captain of Dolokhov’s company in the Semyonovsky regiment. And he gets an earful from his superior about the blueish state of Dolokhov’s coat.

Chapter 2

Kutuzov recognises the red-nosed captain from the siege of Ismail, back in 1790. He calls him a brave officer with a weakness for Bacchus. In other words, he likes to drink.

Chapter 20

He leads his company in a surprise attack on the French that saves the regiment. He has such a “mad drunken determination” that the French throw down their muskets and run.
