Known as ‘The Inquisitor’, a member of the Police Committee
Marc-Guillaume Vadier is a Jacobin deputy. Vadier is a driving force during the Terror, earning the nickname ‘The Inquisitor’, for his role as president of the Committee of General Security, known as the Police Committee. The Police Committee was designed to protect the Republic from internal enemies and it oversaw the Reign of Terror, along with the Committee of Public Safety. Other members of the Police Committee include Philippe Lebas and Jacques-Louis David.
