I used to have a Smith Corona typewriter back in the 90s when I was at uni. It had 3 or 4 lines of text too. I loved that machine. Yours looks cool too. It’ll possibly come as no surprise, but I’m hoping to do my writing longhand. I bought a fancy leather folio and some A4 pads to get me going. A retreat like yours would sure be helpful!
Different stages of writing call for different tools. I handwrite mostly when I want to slow my thoughts down or get in close to the words. My only fear with the fancy folio is that you'll feel the quality of your writing must match the quality of the binding! So remember to switch up if need be, and do whatever it takes to find the flow. Good luck!
I am thrilled that you are getting this kind of a writing retreat after devoting yourself so much to parenting and guiding multiple groups of slow-readers (including me). I schedule writing retreats twice a year at a Benedictine abbey guesthouse with woods, lake, walking paths, and a fantastic college library and value them highly, but, I must say, your location’s view is particularly inspiring. Best wishes for the next 10,000 words!
That sounds awesome, Sheri. I must certainly plan one of these each year, and two if I can - although that might be a stretch. The opportunity to write and walk, and have some solitude, it really is wonderful.
We used something like that in school, and they were so much fun to use. And I got so much writing done because, as you said, of the lack of distractions.

Always tempted to turn back to the typewriter on this, especially now. Thanks for the inspiration and what a great place to write
