Jean Recordain, a merchant from Arcis-sur-Aube, is the second husband of Marie-Madeleine Danton and stepfather to Georges-Jacques Danton, Anne Madeleine, Pierrette, and Marie-Cécile. His previous wife died, leaving him with one son. Jean is inventing a machine for spinning cotton.
