Pierre Vergniaud hails from Limoges where he made his name as a successful lawyer, using his eloquence to defend cases close to the Revolutionary cause. He moves to Paris when elected as deputy to Bordeaux. A member and sometime president of the National Convention, he is famous as an orator and allied with ‘Brissotins’ like Jean-Pierre Brissot and Jean-Marie and Manon Roland.
